Join Us for University Research Day 2024!

Join The Catholic University of America’s students, faculty and staff on Wednesday, April 17, when we celebrate the University’s research achievements at University Research Day 2024!

University Research Day (URD) is an annual opportunity for our community to celebrate the University’s long research tradition and explore the extraordinary array of current research being conducted by our students, faculty, and staff.

The hallmarks of Catholic University research are innovation, diversity and global impact, and we believe you will see this on display at URD 2024. This year’s event will be both in-person and virtual and will offer a full day of research, beginning with an address by Provost Aaron Dominguez and a soon-to-be-revealed keynote speaker. Audiences will explore a range of oral and poster presentations, enjoy musical performances, and have the chance to learn about a number of campus research organizations. The event will culminate with a live awards ceremony during which Provost Dominguez will announce, and speak with, the winners.

We look forward to sharing more details with you about URD 2024 as they become available. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 17, and plan to join us to celebrate research at Catholic University!

History of Catholic University Research Day

The first University Research Day (URD) was held in 2016 through the inspiration and hard work of NCSSS professor Melissa Grady, the support of the Provost, and the first University Research Day Planning Committee.

URD has grown every year, and after four years as an in-person event, the last two years of URD were pandemic-driven to an online forum. This expanded URD reach to a global audience by going online in 2020 and 2021. URD 2021 was a resounding success. Families, friends, alumni, and supporters from around the globe participated. Thousands of visitors enjoyed live-streamed talks and access to nearly 140 recorded presentations plus musical performances. The event culminated with a live awards ceremony in which the Provost announced and spoke with the winners. URD presentations from previous years can be found in Catholic University's Digital Repository.

From the inaugural event in 2016, URD has continued to grow. This year is no different! We are currently planning to conduct live sessions again for Oral Presentations and to bring back the ever-popular Poster session in the Pryz. We will also continue to make all presentations and posters available online.
